Ghost in the Shell Hollywood Adaptation on the Works

Dreamworks Pictures and director Steven Spielberg are teaming up to give us the Hollywood adaptation of Masamune Shirow’s Ghost in the Shell. The movie however will not be based on the anime but in the manga. The film, according to Dreamworks’ president Adam Goodman, will be a “3D live-action motion picture” which will feature lots of action-packed scenes. There are separate responses from the fans of the series and some say that they are looking forward to this movie and that Dreamworks will make a good adaptation but some fans say that this movie will be another flop because Hollywood adaptations of most anime series usually “butcher” the title and remove any essence of the original story. Let’s just hope that this will not happen as Ghost in the Shell is one of the best anime titles out there.
